Considering wallpaper instead of paint? Our handy worksheet and calculator will take the guesswork out of how many rolls you’ll need to tackle this DIY project.
Getting started
To accurately determine the number of wallpaper rolls needed to cover the walls in your room, you’ll need to record your measurements before heading in-store. This will also make the selection process much easier, since you’ll be able to choose a print with enough stock to cover your entire space.
Wall dimensions
If your room has more than four walls, be sure to record the additional measurements. Once you’ve measured and recorded your room dimensions, visit The Home Depot Wallpaper Calculator to get your results.
Common wallpaper mistakes to avoid
Not enough paste on the edges of wallpaper when seaming, or the wrong type of paste altogether
A high room temperature, which can cause paste to dry too quickly
Insufficient wall surface preparation such as not sealing or applying sizing
Streaks on the surface after application, usually from excess paste
Gaps between pieces if butting and seaming was not done carefully
Bubbling or blistering if wallpaper was not smoothed properly
